nice template...how to remove adsense code on thread?

Great Theme! I am having one small problem, or I just don't understand how/where to set one thing up...

In the image you have at the start of this thread it shows a side menu of items on the left. I would like to use that for ad space and such, but cannot find where to "activate" that area. Right now the forum topics take up the full screen.

Now I know that this will show the portal information on the left, but I am wanting the "regular forum" threads on the right. Right now once a member clicks a topic the information/ads on the left (portal) goes away. To make some revenue on ads, I would like to keep some small 100x100 ads listed on the left all the time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
